Dispersers

Dispersion is a process of breaking lumps of powdery material, rapidly, while uniformly distributing and wetting them in a liquid. These are generally high speed agitators where motor is directly coupled to agitator shaft & impeller is high shear type for example. Saw tooth impeller.

THE DISPERSION PROCESS

Dispersers work on the energy transfer principle. A disc-type blade is mounted at the bottom end of the shaft and rotated at a relatively higher tip speed. Due to this the solids and liquids are sucked into the rotating blade, and a distinct whirlpool is created between the top of the shaft and the top of the blade. A similar whirlpool is created between the bottom of the disc and the bottom of the vessel. These whirlpools are referred to as vortices,

This vortex instantly triggers energy transfer from the disc to the mixture, and creates tremendous and instantaneous velocity changes in the mixture thereby creating a shear force or shear. Dispersers don’t grind but they help in breaking down of solid agglomerates as found in paints, inks, chemicals, pigment, etc. during the mixing and also dispersing the reduced sized particles evenly in the base liquid.

A perfect operating speed ranging from  300 to 2880 revolutions per minute (RPM)for Disperser Shaft and lower speed range for Mixer Shaft, to suit your process requirement, are achieved by combining of superior quality Motor, VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) and other electro-mechanical arrangements.

HIGH SPEED DISPERSERS (HSD)

An HSD is one of the most commonly used high shear mixer. HSD’s are available in various sizes. The blades are rotated at optimal speeds to ensure proper flow pattern and desired consistency are achieved. The mixing vessel size and the component-mix predominantly govern the effectiveness of high speed dispersion. HSDs are used for rapid mixing, blending, dispersing, homogenizing and shearing of various liquids and semi-solids, and for carbon dispersions. They are also provided with hydraulic lifting arrangement for change of tanks or mixing in elevated position.

TWIN SHAFT DISPERSERS (TSD)

TSDs have two shafts. One of them carries the dispersion blade that rotates with high rpm for dispersion purposes, while the other carries a mixing blade (anchor,or other mixer blades) for low rpm mixing and effective heat transfer from the jacket and shell of vessel. TSDs are available with hydraulic lifters that help in easy handling. In addition to this, a scrapper option is available to scrap the inner walls of the vessel to avoid material loss during the mixing process. This design is shaft in shaft arrangement.

ACME TSDs are manufactured with a variety of MOCs and construction materials that are abrasion and corrosion resistant. Our TSDs are precisely calculated and custom designed for manufacturing highly viscous materials such as polyester putties, paints and coatings, etc. Twin Shaft Disperser are designed to perform premixing, mixing, dissolving, blending, dispersing, homogenizing and shearing.
